Why create a team for race day?

          Having a team for the day of the race makes participating much more fun!  This also gives you an opportunity to raise pledges, walk/run as a group in honor of someone special, support each other through the race, and make the race day fun for everyone!    There will also be a prize for the team that raises the most pledges.  

How to create a team:

1.  Chose a Team Captain  - The Captain is responsible for ensuring that all team members are registered for the race correctly, send information about starting times and packet pickup for race day and helping to make the race fun for the team (create t-shirts, make a competition to raise the most pledges). 
2. Team must have at least 10 members. 
3. Chose a Team Name – It is important to have your team name chosen and sent to all team members before anyone registers on Active.com.  All team members should register as a team on the site.
4. Use the linked spreadsheet to help track your team members, their registrations, and pledges. 
5. Create a team or individual pledge forms on Active.
6. Please be sure to have all team members registered by 4/15/10

Directions for registering teams on Active.com:

Team Captain

1. Follow the Registration link to Active.com – http://komennorthernindiana.org/komen/
2. The Team Captain should register first and should select the CREATE TEAM option on the top right of the registration page. The Team Captain should follow the below steps:
   1. Create a Team Name
   2. Choose if you would like to require a password for your team members to register under your team name
   3. Create a password – It is best to create a password even if you are not requiring this for your team.
   4. Choose if you would like to receive an email from Active.com when your team members register.
   5. After the Team Captain follows these steps they will be directed to the registration screen to personally register for the race.
   6. Team Captain’s should them send out the team name and password to all those registering for the race.
   7. Team Captain is also able to register all participants for the race at this time by selecting “Register another participant” option.
   8. Team Captain can use the following spreadsheet to help track their team members, help them register, and keep a log of all those members on your team. 

Team Members

1. Follow the Registration link to Active.com – http://komennorthernindiana.org/komen/    
2. Be sure to have your team name and password
3. Choose the GREEN Register Now button.
4. You will directed to the registration screen.
5. Be sure to choose your correct team from the Team drop down option at the top of the form.

Donation Pages:

When you have registered Active.com will create a Donation Page for you to help you in your fundraising efforts.  If you are registering as a team you will have the option to use a Donation Page for your team or as an individual member. 

 Creating and using your Donation Page is a simple and easy tool for you to fundraise for your race.  Donations Pages are created with the Susan G. Komen Affiliate logo.  You have to options to customize your page with content and layout.  The more individualized you make your page the better!  This Donation Page can be emailed through Active.com or you can send the link out personally.  Active.com walks you step by step through creating your Donation Page. 

Fun ideas for your Team:

1. Have competitions for the person who can raise the most  individual pledges, has the fast time on race day, has the most creative team name or t-shirt idea.

3. Throw a Pledge Party for your team – help the entire team raise money by inviting friends and family of your whole team.
