The second annual Susan G. Komen Northern Indiana Race for the Cure® will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010.   Northern Indiana joined the world’s largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer in 2009.  The Race for the Cure® series of 5k runs/fitness walks are held across the nation to raise significant funds and awareness for the breast cancer movement, celebrate breast cancer survivorship and honor those who have lost their battle with the disease. Since its origination in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure® series has grown from one local Race in Dallas with 800 participants to a global series of 120 Races with more than 1.5 million people expected to participate in 2009.  The Komen Race for the Cure® series has grown internationally with events in Germany, Italy  and Puerto Rico.  The Komen Race for the Cure® series is unique in that it attracts people of all ages and fitness levels. All Komen Race for theCure®   Cure courses are certified by USA Track & Field (USATF), the national governing body for track and field, long distance running, race walking and cross-country events.  The Northern Indiana Race for the Cure®  5k (3.1 miles) Co-ed Run/Fitness Walk begins and ends on the scenic Riverwalk in downtown Mishawaka on Saturday, May 1, 2010.
